Blower Door Testing

Blower door testing is absolutely essential when performing energy ratings for new homes and energy audits for existing homes. This tool provides information regarding total building air leakage and air leakage sites. It is a critical tool that is also used in the post inspection after the energy retrofit measures have been applied.

Blower doors used in conjunction with a duct blaster (when duct work is outside the building envelope) can determine duct leakage – which is a major energy waster.

Blower doors and their components are also used when performing CAZ (combustion appliance zone) testing – we must make sure we ‘do no harm’ when weatherizing homes and must test the effects of weatherizing on chimney vented appliances.
